Youth Film Festival 

We are excited for this one! 🎞️ 🔥

Lights, Camera, Action! This is your chance to create a short film and see it on the big screen!

Are you aged 6-12 and local? Gather your crew or go solo, make a short film over the holidays, and showcase your creativity at the RC Youth Film Festival. With awesome prizes and a big-screen debut, this is your moment to shine! 🤳🏾

Who can enter? 

The festival is open to young creatives ages 6-12 which includes:

  • Primary school students

  • Intermediate school students

  • Participants can enter as individuals or as part of a team. Whether you're an experienced filmmaker or trying it for the first time, this event is designed to celebrate creativity at every level.

Prizes will be awarded for best film, but the real treat is seeing your work on the bring screen!

You can choose whatever genre you like, action, comedy, animation, documentary, totally up to you!
 
Film requirements
  • Length: 2-5 minutes

  • Equipment: Films can be shot on a phone, iPad, or camera

  • Format: MP4 or MOV

  • Films can be in any genre, including drama, comedy, sci-fi, documentary, or experimental. The focus is on storytelling and creativity rather than technical expertise.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for Best Film, recognising outstanding storytelling, creativity, and technical execution. Final prize details will be announced closer to the event date.

Judging Criteria 

Films will be assessed based on:

 🎨  Creativity & originality – Unique concepts and compelling storytelling

 🎥  Filmmaking techniques – Use of camera angles, editing, and sound

 🎭  Performance & execution – Acting, direction, and overall impact

 💌  Message & engagement – Emotional depth, entertainment value, and audience connection

Judging Pannel

A panel of industry professionals and creatives will review all submissions and select the winners. Judges will be announced soon.

How to enter

Register by April 1 to confirm your participation. You can do this by filling out the form below ⬇️

Create a 2-5 minute film based on a film genre of your choice 👯🌎🦹🏽

Submit your final film by April 14. Head to our 2026 Film Submission pageto complete this process

Attend the festival screening on April 24 and see your work on the big screen 🎥

FAQ'S

Can I submit a film I’ve made previously?

Yes! As long as your film was completed within the last three years, it is eligible for entry.

I don’t have a professional camera—does that matter?

Not at all! A great story is what truly counts. You can film using a phone, tablet, or camera.

Can my film include swearing or violence?

Our screenings are PG-rated, so please keep that in mind. We do not accept films with excessive violence, racism, or sexual content.

Can my film be in another language?

Yes, but it must include English subtitles.
