JOIN US ON OUR JOURNEY
Located in Belmont on Auckland's North Shore, The Rose Centre has been a cornerstone of community life since its establishment in 1992. It was founded to meet a vital need: creating a local hub where people could gather, connect, and celebrate creativity. The vision for the Centre was the result of a collaborative effort involving community groups, the North Shore Local Board, Company Theatre, and Belmont Primary School. A pivotal figure in this journey was Paddy Stafford-Bush, whose dedication and vision transformed The Rose Centre into the thriving community venue it is today, fostering creative expression, cultural enrichment, and community connection.
The Rose Centre quickly became a vital resource for people of all ages. For young people, it offers a safe, inclusive environment to explore creativity through theatre, art, and workshops, inspiring the next generation of performers and artists. For families, it’s a place to enjoy performances and events that strengthen community bonds. Adults can participate in a variety of programs and activities tailored to their interests. Additionally, our renowned Preschool has provided a warm, professional, and nurturing environment for generations of children, cementing its place as a cherished part of the local community.
In 2008, The Rose Centre Inc. became a registered charitable entity (CC28613). Our purpose is to provide support services and facilities for the Devonport-Takapuna community and beyond. We achieve this by hosting community events, offering workshops and classes for all ages, and supporting the performing and creative arts. Through collaboration with individuals and groups, we continue to serve as a dynamic resource for our local community.
Our resident theatre group, Company Theatre and Choir - the Rose Singers, both stage multiple productions each year, showcasing the talents of local performers, from budding amateurs to seasoned actors.
The ongoing support of the Auckland Council and the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board has ensured The Rose Centre remains a welcoming, accessible space for everyone.
Today, we are proud to uphold our shared vision of a community-focused space that supports local needs. Through our preschool, performing arts, and creative programs, we continue to foster connection, belonging, and creative exploration for all.
