The Tale about Emelya

A family-friendly show "The Tale about Emelya" based on Russian fairy tales.

This tale is about Emelya, a young peasant man who accidentally caught a magic fish while trying to get some water from the ice hole. The fish asked to let her go and in exchange for that she gave Emelya some magic words that help create miracles and make wishes come true.

The Tsar's military leader found out about Emelya's magical abilities and ordered him to come to the palace to make the Tsar's daughter, who cries all the time, laugh. A generous reward was offered to anyone who can make the young Tsarina laugh, but no one seemed to succeed in it. Emelya was not interested in the reward or the whinging young lady, but eventually he agreed go to the palace. Was his attempt to make the young Tsarina laugh successful? You'll find out when you watch the production

There will be a libretto in English for English-speaking audience.

Before the show there will be a sale of Russian-style desserts and savoury pastries, so it's good to come 30-45 minutes earlier to enjoy the delicious food.
