Tangaroa-a-Mua (Half Moon Pendant)

Join Aotearoa Bone and Stone for a hands-on pounamu making workshop where you'll create your own Tangaroa-a-Mua (Half Moon) pendant.
 

Guided by an experienced tutor, you'll learn traditional techniques for shaping, sanding and polishing pounamu, while discovering the meaning and significance behind the Tangaroa-a-Mua design.
 

The half-moon form is associated with growth, renewal and the ever-changing rhythms of life. Your tutor will also share the tikanga and practices they follow when working with pounamu, offering an opportunity to learn respectfully about this treasured taonga and Māori art form.
 

No previous experience is needed. You'll be guided through the process from start to finish and leave with your own handcrafted pendant, as well as a deeper appreciation for the artistry, care and traditions involved in working with pounamu.
