Special General Meeting - (Please note this is not an AGM!)
We are pleased to invite you join us as we come together briefly to vote on one matter - the board recommendation to 'extend the timeframe to hold our 2024 AGM by amending Rule 18 (a) of the RCI Constitution from the date of 31st October to 31st December as allowed by the ISA 2022 Schedule 1 S9' AND to welcome our new Treasurer Amali Fonseka.
The Board has been diligently working throughout the year on updating our current constitution to comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022. This process has provided us with the opportunity to review our existing document, ensuring it aligns with legislative requirements while creating a clear, well-structured framework that promotes best governance practices, supports operational independence, reflects our whole community and will provide long-term sustainability for our organization.
The current RC Board members take their responsibility to make decisions that further the goals of the Society very seriously. To that end, we believe it is desirable for the purposes of our re-registration under the ISA 2022, to recommend an extension of the AGM date at this general meeting. While we have already engaged in discussions with ' RCI Special Members', this extension would allow us the ultimate opportunity to enhance communication with the broader community about the changes to our constitution under the new Act. That said, if you, our members feel the extension is unnecessary, the Board will confidently proceed with the original timeline of consultation, feedback and review, culminating in a vote at the 2024 AGM.
To RSVP or any queries about the above or membership please email board@rosecentre.co.nz We look forward to seeing you there 🙂
